Seriously though, just be you!

What does it mean to be authentic? Dictionary defines it as being of undisputed origin and not a copy; genuine. And so, being ‘authentic’ online means just that – be genuine. If you want to succeed in your social platforms, you should always have an authentic voice. No doubt you’ve read this, seen it emphasised in presentations by social media thought leaders (every webinar online regarding tips in social media will tell you). And they’re right, authenticity is key, but the more complicated aspect is, how exactly do you develop an authentic voice? What are the things you need to focus on to ensure your social media voice remains authentic and true to your core purpose?

Each to their own! You might not always be everyone’s cup of tea… & that’s okay. Incorporate your flair for the dramatic, your quirky sense of humour or whatever it is that makes you, you! Within reason of course, no one likes a bully and you want to be mindful when posting. No racism, sexism, ageism… etc. Just be you, but be cool.

The upSIDE of being authentic is you attract your tribe organically. Your audience will be made up of people who want to hear what you have to say, and will be interested in your brand or offering.

We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be.
